The Editorial Assistant position offers recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree and current MA and PhD students the opportunity to acquire professional experience in publishing while working at a nonprofit research institution that focuses on U.S. policy toward the Asia-Pacific. The Editorial Assistant will support the managing editor in administration of the peer-reviewed journal Asia Policy, while also helping edit and distribute other NBR publications.
Responsibilities
Providing research and clerical support for the managing editor of Asia Policy, including communicating with prospective authors and reviewers, drafting contracts, tracking manuscripts, researching new projects, and conducting journal outreach Assisting with formatting, copyediting, and proofreading manuscripts for Asia Policy and other NBR publications Assisting with the distribution of NBR publications, including fulfilling orders Providing general office support for other NBR activities, including answering incoming calls and assisting with events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Positive work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a group Interest in editing and publishing; interest in Asia studies and international relations is a plus Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style is a plus
