The Thirteenth Annual
Denise Levertov Award

Wednesday, May 11, 2016 | 7:00 p.m.
Pigott Auditorium, Seattle University, Washington

Join us at Pigott Auditorium on Wednesday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m., for a poetry reading and dessert reception as we award the thirteenth annual Levertov Award to Dana Gioia.

Dana Gioia is an award-winning poet and former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. He is currently Poet Laureate of California, and is the author of four collections of poetry and eight chapter books. He is a recipient of the 2002 American Book Award and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Image‘s Denise Levertov Award is named for one of the twentieth century’s greatest poets. Her identity as a Christian believer—a pilgrim whose faith was inextricably entwined with doubt—was an important facet of her work, particularly in her later poetry. The Levertov Award is presented annually in the spring to an artist or creative writer whose work exemplifies a serious and sustained engagement with the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Admission is free.  For tickets and rsvp:  http://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-denise-levertov-award-with-dana-gioia-tickets-21785408744
